I was unfamiliar with WordPress and how it can help create a professional website for your passion. However, there are other options to consider before going in-depth with the WordPress builder. Therefore, I would have to consider the benefits and weaknesses to WordPress before getting started.

Pros

1- The large database of content such as themes, plugins, and elements to make pages or posts more engaging. Plugins like WooCommerce and Elementor create ways of customization that aren’t attainable with other options. WordPress is designed to be flexible while also being complex.

2- The WordPress database is catered to be user-friendly, making everything easier for users and owners. Content is easier to be managed because of the lack of need for HTML or PHP coding knowledge. Using WordPress can lead to a smoother experience for everyone involved, but most importantly for visitors.

3- WordPress specializes in optimization, specifically to pop up in search engines. SEO is one of the main focal points for website creation and WordPress is structured for it.

Cons

1- WordPress can have a problem with security, as hackers tend to target those websites. The program has vulnerabilities that make it susceptible to threats from all places. That is why WordPress recommends the addition of security plugins to your site, such as Wordfence.

2- There are many updates that come around with WordPress, making it sometimes complicated to maintain. Functionality can end up broken and require troubleshooting because of a problem with core files or plugins.

3- If too many plugins are activated, the website can experience performance issues. There are plugins to help this, of course, but I myself have experienced slowness or crashes of my previous WordPress site.

In my experience, the most difficult portion of creating a WordPress website was utilizing more advanced features like podcasting and image sliders. I enjoy being able to include media in a format that makes my site more engaging, but the image gallery became a personal issue of mine.
